Itinerary

Day 1Meet and Greet

Arrival at the Hosea Kutako international airport welcome by your qualified guide 

Departure towards Okahandja and visit the woodcarving center (depending on the time of the flight)

Continue to Otjiwarongo, the first small town north of Okahandja, Otjiwarongo town (at an elevation of [1,460 meters]) is located in a generally flat, semiarid region of varied grasses, scrub bushes, and thorn trees. Sheep and cattle are grazed in the region, which was originally inhabited by the Bergdama (Damara) and San (Bushmen). The latter were displaced in the early 19th century by the cattle-grazing Herero people, who, when moving into the area, gave Otjiwarongo its present name, meaning “the place of the fat cattle.

Installation at C’est Si Bon Hotel or similar.

 Night and dinner at the hotel.

Day 2Otjiwarango/ Etosha

 After Breakfast.

Departure to Etosha National Park, Surrounding the vast Etosha Pan with its shimmering mirages (a salt basin totally devoid of vegetation), and the famous national park is one of the largest protected areas on the planet. 

After the summer rains, basins and vleis flooded for one season attract thousands of waterfowls

12:30 pm Lunch at Camp

 Depart for your first coach safari and explore the park.

 You will have many chances to observe the different species of predators that are

  This 129 km long and 72 km Wide Park is nicknamed the “Pan” with fairly poor vegetation, plains alternate with the bush to create habitat for an exceptional fauna: Lions, zebras, leopards, cheetahs, Oryx, elephants as well as many birds.

 Dinner and accommodation at the lodge.

Day 3We still remain in Etosha national park

An early morning wake-up call followed by breakfast and a real African safari on a 4×4 vehicle.

We will be driving towards our next accommodation while searching through the park for all wildlife animals we can find including stops to the amazing sceneries of the Namibian well-known Pans (dry salty lakes)

12:30 pm Lunch on route at Okaukuejo Camp:

Then continue our safari in the park,

 At the end of the afternoon, installation in Okaukuejo Rest Camp for 1 night.

 Accommodation and dinner.

Day 4ETOSHA / DAMARALAND

Breakfast departure for Damaraland.

10:00 am Meeting with the inhabitants of a Himba village (in Otjikandero), one of the last nomadic tribes in the country. 

Lunch on the road.

Continuation to Khorixas.

Departure for the region of Damaraland located between the Etosha National Park and the Brandenberg massif.

 This region is very sparsely populated but shelters some geological curiosities and testimonies of the past which give the country all its timeless character.

Installation at Damara mopane lodge 1 night + dinner.

Day 5DAMARALAND / SWAPKOPMUND / WALVIS BAY

After breakfast, we drive towards Brandenburg and get a chance to visit: Twyfelfontein which offers one of the most remarkable concentrations of rock art in Africa.

Thousands of early paintings and engravings illustrate the concerns of Stone Age hunters.  The whole thing probably dates back thousands of years.

 Continuation through this fascinating region recently renamed “Kunene”.  You will cross desert and mountainous regions with extraordinary masses of granite.

  Visit the “Cape Cross”

 On the north coast, visit the seal colony at Cape Cross, it is the largest seal sanctuary in Namibia with a population ranging from 80 to 110,000.

Lunch on route.

Continuation to Swakopmund installation at Strand Hotel for 2 nights.

Swakopmund Town is the oldest seaside resort on the coast.  It is a place of singular charm that one could describe as a Bavarian village nestled between the desert and the sea. Founded in 1892, it is today the great seaside resort of Namibians thanks to its temperate climate, its low rainfall.  Abundant, its charm, and its relaxing atmosphere.

DAY 6Full day Walvis Bay

Surrounded on the seaside by the Atlantic Ocean and inland by the golden yellow dunes of the Namibia desert, Walvis Bay is located on a lagoon.

It is the largest producer of salt in Africa and hosts up to 80,000 birds in summer, flamingos, pelicans, cormorants, and fishing birds colour the smooth surface of its lagoons.

Departure for a cruise to observe sea lions, pelicans, and dolphins.  Discovery of the port, Bird Island refuge of hundreds of Cape cormorants, Pelican Point, its colonies of sea lions and pink flamingos.  Along your journey, you will be accompanied by dolphins, excursion of 3 hours.  Mola Mola Dolphin Cruise.

Lunch – Oysters and snacks, as well as champagne, will be offered to you

Road to Swakopmund and free time to visit the city.

Free afternoon either to rest or to do your shopping (except Sunday and public holidays),

DAY 7Swakopmund/ KUISEB CANYON / NAMIB DESERT REGION

Breakfast, departure for the Namib Desert through the Kuiseb Canyon

Departure to the famous Welwitschia Mirabilis, a botanical curiosity that is found exclusively in the foggy areas of the Namibian desert some specimens are over 1,500 years old.

We will embark on a journey to one of the most scenic views of Namibia; Kuiseb canyon follows by the crossing of the tropic of Capricorn.

 Lunch at Rostock Ritz

Continuation towards the Namib desert “country where there is nothing” but only the flat and hard tracks of the desert before reaching the Namib, stronghold of reptiles and many beetles.

We will cross the Naukluft Mountains and the Kuiseb Canyon following the bed of this river through contrasting coloured mountains made of basalt quartz and granite.

Continuation and installation at Namib desert lodge or similar for 2 nights.

 Accommodation and dinner.

Day 8NAMIB DESERT / SOSSUSVLEI / HAMMERSTEIN REGION

Early departure at 5:30 am.

You will ride on desert tracks before reaching the entrance to Sossusvlei National Park.

Breakfast to take away in the dunes.

Continuation by coach then you will board the 4×4 shuttle to go to the dunes … here you will discover a fantastic landscape of dunes, some of which rise to more than 300m from which you can contemplate a gigantic dry lake.  The dunes stretch as far as the eye can see and the richness of their colours ranges from pale orange to bright red Walk of about 1 hour round trip will allow you to discover the dead vlei – a unique place.

12:30 pm Lunch @ Sossusvlei Lodge. 

In the afternoon, continue to the Sesriem Canyon, a one kilometre long, 30-meter-deep fault carved by the Tsauchab River into a rocky agglomerate dating from fifteen to eighteen million years ago.

Return to the Lodge

Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 9HAMMERSTEIN / MALTAHOHE / KALAHARI

Breakfast, Coach Route to Mariental located on the edge of the Kalahari Desert.  Ancestral land of the Bushmen, the Kalahari, a 500,000 km² desert, also covers part of the land of Botswana and South Africa.  This desert is characterized by an alternation of dry slopes and longitudinal red dunes drawn up in a line spaced out by valleys to which the vegetation provides a contrast of colours.

 Lunch at AUOB Lodge.

 Installation in the afternoon at “Auob Lodge” or similar.

 Then depart for a photo safari in a 4×4 vehicle at sunset.  Cross the reddish dunes of the Kalahari in search of Oryx, zebras, ostriches, and many birds

 Around 5 p.m. (depending on the season)

 Duration of 2 hours

Return to the lodge and dinner at the accommodation.

DAY 10KALAHARI / WINDHOEK

Breakfast

Continuation to Windhoek (3h30min drive):  its altitude of 1,650m means it has escaped the heat that one would expect to experience in Africa. 

As dynamic as the buildings are, the charm of the place lies in its testimonies from the colonial era.

The city is greatly enhanced by the historic buildings designed in the German architectural style of the turn of the century and which alternate with the buildings of the international style.

 Panoramic tour of the city (depending on the time of the return flight)

 Transfer to Windhoek airport
